What’s EMDR?

EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help you recover from trauma or any condition where past experiences or ingrained beliefs are triggering unhealthy thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations. It utilizes bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or audio) to mimic how your brain naturally processes information for the purpose of desensitizing and reprocessing unhelpful information, thereby decreasing its negative impact on you. It also focuses on integrating more helpful adaptive information to support your ability to thrive.

EMDR can be effective in treating the following:

  • Trauma/PTSD/CPTSD
  • Trauma-related depression
  • Insecure attachment
  • Phobias/fears
  • Panic attacks
  • Social anxiety
  • Addictions
  • Chronic pain
  • Body image
  • Performance anxiety
  • Low self-esteem/self-worth
  • Complicated grief

What are EMDR Intensives?

EMDR intensives enable you to focus on a specific goal within a condensed timeframe by combining weeks of EMDR therapy into a single day.  Just like any other therapy, we will spend time discussing your history and building skills to prepare you for your intensive. You may need one intensive or multiple intensives, depending upon your outcomes and goals.

EMDR Intensives may be right for you if...

  1. You need faster results: If you're feeling stuck in traditional therapy or want to make significant progress in less time, an EMDR intensive can help you dive deeper and achieve quicker breakthroughs.
  2. You have an urgent need for relief: Preparing for a major life change or facing emotional distress (such as a relationship or career change, a medical procedure, moving, travel, etc.)? An intensive can help stabilize and reduce your distress, making it easier to manage life transitions.
  3. You can't commit to weekly therapy sessions: If your schedule is tight, due to work, caregiving, or travel, EMDR intensives offer a condensed treatment plan that better fits your availability.
  4. You can't find an EMDR therapist who fits your schedule: If finding a therapist with available is a challenge, intensives provide greater flexibility by providing sessions on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
